Curiosity - Wednesday 19th March

Posted on March 18th, 2008 in miscellaneous by dave

Wednesday is all set for curiosity in McGinty’s from 8pm. It’ll be the usual informal mix of stuff people want to show and chat about, plus a focus on the upcoming show - 19th to 27th April.

I’ve already got a list of over ten pieces that we’re hoping to show. Some are ready to go, others need some work. If you’ve got something you’d like to add or you’d like to see if you could help out with someone else’s - come along on Wednesday.

We’re also going to need a hand with publicity and the like - we’ll need posters and flyers pretty soon.

Remote folk: give Cefn or me a shout and we’ll patch you in by the wonders of the Internet - we can do Skype, iChat, etc, etc

Hope to see you then, cheers,
Dave

Curiosity - Wednesday 5th March

A reminder that Wednesday Night is Curiosity Night!

The list of pieces for the next show is growing nicely and plans are afoot for an exciting second “themed” show in the Autumn.

Please bring along your ideas and projects - I’m going to bring a fixed version of the “mobile-phone-triggered-bubble-machine” that Craig and I built. I’ll also be espousing openframeworks to anyone who’ll listen and show some of the things that were built at this weekend’s workshop.

We’re in McGinty’s again from 8pm, upstairs - the stairs are just by the door for the court-yard area.

Cheers,
Dave.

Had a chance to help build this musical robot when I was in Boston. Sorry not to have more time to join in with the installation in New York but what a job they’ve done! See the video below for more…

Curiosity - Wednesday 6th February

Posted on February 1st, 2008 in meeting, meetings by dave

The next Curiosity get together is next Wednesday 6th February in Ipswich at 8pm, in McGinty’s pub (opposite the library).

Lots to see and talk about, there’s:

  • The upcoming show - we’ve got a long list of possibles and probables for piece to show and need to settle on some dates
  • Cefn’s iPhore
  • Robot Orchestra: Jonathan and I have got some solenoids together and hope to recreate the solenoid concert
  • Tom’s been working on our new website
  • Pixelh8’s been doing some new crazy music making with DSs
  • Craig and I will unveil the “mobile-phone-triggered-bubble-machine” (needs a better name!)
  • Plus, anything weird and wonderful you want to bring!

Hope to see you there,

Cheers,
Dave

This digital cloud made from flipping pixels is beautiful.

Anyone has a project like this we can build?

solenoid concert

Posted on January 18th, 2008 in miscellaneous by dave

This is fun, it’s an Arduino controlled “software-sequencer [which] controls 8 solenoids, that knock on different things and therefore produce some rhythmic noise”.

Could we do something similar with Jonathan’s board?

Cheers,
Dave.
